Caught between the jerk and the apathetic

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned about all of the goings-on with Livejournal. I've not been brave enough to friend many people at all yet, mostly my journal has been for reading and the occasional comment, so I don't feel I'm facing quite the dilemma others are in re: leaving people and community and identity.

It's an odd and sticky situation. I don't know that I want to stay, but that begs the question: then where do I go? I think it's easier to know that question if you know more people, because even though we may all have differences in tastes and preferences, fandom as a whole does tend to flock together. Do I try to follow the people I've seen on the AMG comm? The people in HP? The people in PoT? All? None?

It's a lot to think about and try to decide. I'm a little lucky, maybe, because I don't have the huge investment of time and emotion others do. I tell myself that, but it doesn't really make it any easier. Most people are drawn to fandom for a sense of belonging, I think, and when we can stumble into that and not alienate the collective in the process...we're reluctant to part with it.

I think it's telling, though, that the current guy doing a lot of the PR speaking to the userbase is mocking the users, and the creator is washing his hands and wants nothing more to do with things. Hence, the subject line: I think fandom and even the non-fandom parts of the userbase are in the middle.

The longer I write at this, the less sense I think it makes, so enough for now.

It's not an interesting journal I have, mostly because I forget about it and use it mainly to read comms. In fact, I never had an entry in it for a long time, but that tends to make people not add you back and such.

I don't as of yet have an alias, but my journal name translates to 'Invisible Wings'. Maybe that will work.

I like fandom and fun things, most of the time. I work too much at a job I don't really like, I have big dreams and I want to laugh and make people happy.

I want to fly someday, even if it's just jumping out of a plane with a parachute.

I like books and scifi and anime and silly things.

I hope you like them, too.
